Our Facilities

Here are some of the facilities and points of interest for you and your dogs. We also have a cosy shelter for those rainy days with a few little extras :)

Our pond is a work in progress and will be complete in a few months time. It will be absolutely beautiful when complete. An environmental specialist has confirmed that the area is safe - just a little muddy at the bottom!

Sensory Garden

Our sensory garden is a peaceful area for owners to sit and dogs to explore! Dogs have an incredible sense of smell, and sniffing is great for building confidence and creating calm. We have different plants, logs and scents for your dogs to explore. You can even hide some of our free treats in different areas for them to find!

Willow Tunnels

Great for playing games and confidence building. Throw a ball or a treat inside! Handmade by us.

Agility Equipment

Fully adjustable jumps and weave poles.

Seating Areas

We have benches in the shelter, in the sun in the sensory garden, and under this beautiful shady tree where you can look out over the field and views.

Free Natural Treats

We have jars of natural treats in the shelter for you to use for training. Keep an eye out for seasonal specials! All from Bark & Bramble.

Scentwork Areas

We have some secret spots of scent around the field for your dogs to explore. Hide some treats in the logs or let them nose around our scent poles which could be filled with all sorts of things such as wool, rabbit straw, or herbs.

Large Car Park

There is plenty of space for several cars, so you are welcome to bring friends and family for a picnic or dog meet up.

Woodchip Digging Area and Tyre Mountain

Digging is a fun natural behaviour for dogs, and here we have an area to dig without causing trouble! The tyre mountain is great for those dogs who like to observe their surroundings from higher up!

Dog Safe Herbs

There are dog safe herbs dotted around the park. Herbs can be very calming for dogs to smell, but did you know dogs can also use them to self medicate?! For example; coriander helps to relieve nausea and dodgy tummies, and oregano is anti-inflammatory.

Why use a secure dog park?

If secure dog parks are new to you, here are some of the various reasons why people use them. Sometimes it's just nice to have a private place to spend time in. We'll be writing about our experiences with our rescue's anxiety and reactivity soon - whilst being difficult, the whole experience has unexpectedly changed our lives for the better, as well as theirs!

Anxiety/Reactivity

Anxious dogs often struggle to go for walks in public places due to anxieties around strangers, other dogs, traffic and more. This can be difficult and anxiety provoking for owners, who fear off lead dogs coming into their space, their dog being startled, or being viewed as aggressive due to their fearful behaviour and misconceptions.

As owners of 3 rescue dogs with different fears, we understand how important this is, and the safety and security of our field is our priority. We also provide a sensory garden where dogs can self soothe through sniffing and exploring!

Training

All dogs need consistent training and exercise from a young age. We provide a space for owners to practice training securely. We have a variety of dog toys, long lines, and high quality natural treats for anyone who wishes to use them. All equipment will be cleaned regularly to ensure high levels of hygiene.

Security

After a recent increase in dog theft, owners are understandably concerned about walking their dogs in certain areas.

Whilst dog theft is thankfully still quite rare, we offer a place for owners and their dogs to feel safe and secure, with 6-foot-high fencing and coded padlock on the gate to provide extra security.

We have CCTV cameras in the park for added security.

Females In Season

When females are in season it is sometimes difficult to keep the boys away! Having a secure place to walk dogs in season protects them and male dogs in the area from roaming and unwanted pregnancies.

Shift Working

Being well versed in shift work, we understand how difficult it can be to walk dogs in the cold and dark winter months. Many people would like to feel safer when walking their dog alone in the dark. Our secure field has a coded entry system and CCTV with no access to anyone but the customer. Torches, umbrellas and blankets are available to borrow from the shed.

Prey Drive / Livestock Concerns

We have many public footpaths in Devon, and especially in the mid Devon area where farmers often have footpaths through their land. Coming from a farming background, we understand the needs of both dog owners and farmers. Some dogs cannot be around sheep or other animals due to fear or prey drive, so they cannot be off lead. Our field gives these dogs a place to be off lead safely and reduces the impact dog walkers have on farmland and livestock.

Illness and Injury

We offer a safe place for both owners and dogs to spend time during illness or injury. For dogs, they will often need a period of recuperation following any illnesses or operations. Secure fields allow the dogs somewhere to exercise safely without being bothered by other dogs.

If owners are experiencing problems with their own health, the field allows them to sit comfortably in our seating area, where they can observe their dogs exploring without the need to over exert themselves.
